James S. Calder M.D. received his Bachelor of Science degree and his medical degree from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. He completed his internship and residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Minnesota, and became board certified in that field in 1986. Thereafter, Dr. Calder began his clinical career as the Associate Medical Director of Rehabilitation Services at Northridge Hospital Medical Center.In 1998 he went into private practice focusing on cosmetic laser surgery and the medical management of dermatologic skin and hair conditions. A year later, following a preceptorship, he became a hair transplant surgeon with the prestigous practice of Elliott & True based in Los Angeles.Since then, he has practiced successfully, both as an associate surgeon and as medical director of several California and Arizona based practices. Dr. Calder was also a clinical research coordinator for practice-based evaluation of the efficacy of laser therapy in the prevention of hair loss and in the post-operative applications of low intensity light therapy to accelerate healing. A devotee of FUE hair transplantation and a specialist in the area of facial hair restoration inclusive of eyebrows and beards, Dr. Calder now divides his time between the Elliott & Calder Pacific Hair Institute Clinics in Southern California and San Francisco.Dr. James Calder is a member of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) and a member of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery
