Dr. Shory has been performing hair transplant surgery since 1981, longer than nearly any other physician in the world. A graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham Medical School and founding member of the ISHRS in 1993, he has performed over 10,000 hair transplant procedures to date.
In 1986 he was the first physician in the United States to begin performing hair transplant procedures that consisted exclusively of Minigrafts, Micrografts, and Follicular Unit Transplants. In the 1990's he lecured extensively throughout the United States and Europe, where these and similar techniques were quickly adopted and the older large sized grafts were abandoned.
Currently Dr. Shory is the only physician in the State of Alabama with a practice that is devoted exclusively to hair replacement and hair transplantation. His FUT Plus procedure is unique from nearly all other transplant procedures because a small area of bald skin is removed from each recipient site. This creates a more anatomically correct angle for the hairs, and allows for a more natural separation between the individual hairs.
